Frequently Asked Questions

Does my tea expire?

One of the great benefits of loose leaf tea is the shelf life. Loose leaf teas have a best by date and not an expiration date. Over time and improper storage can cause loose leaf teas to loose flavor. Once the bag is opened, it would be best to use within 2 years for true teas and 1 year for herbals. Loose leaf tea should be stored in air tight containers. The less the tea gets exposed to air, the better the flavor.

When will my tea arrive?

Don't worry, we won't keep you waiting too long! Order processing is 1-2 business days before shipping as we hand-pack every order. You should expect your tea in 3-5 business days after it has been shipped. Currently we are not shipping out of the USA.

How does your shipping process work?

We know you have lots more questions about shipping, so we created a page with everything you need to know – head over for all the details.

Do you have decaffeinated teas?

Yes our herbal infusions and rooibos blends are naturally decaffeinated.

Do your teas contain artificial ingredients?

All blends and tea are made with 100% natural ingredients and flavors. Every product is GMO, gluten, & dairy free.

All of our teas are created to promote general wellbeing. If you have a specific health concern, please ensure you see a health practitioner for a tailored treatment plan.

What is a good tea to help me sleep?

Camomile is a particularly good choice for a night-time drink as it contains a compound known as apigenin which reduces locomotor activity, producing a calming effect and also sleep-inducing effect. Jet Lag Asleep and Lullaby are also sleep inducing blends.

How much caffeine is in each type of “true” teas?

On average, a six-once cup of black tea has about 50 milligrams of caffeine - less than half the amount in a standard cup of brewed coffee. A similarly sized cup of oolong tea contains approximately 30-40 milligrams of caffeine, while green tea contains roughly 20-30 milligrams. White tea contains the smallest amount of caffeine of all “true” teas (i.e. those made from the camellia sinensis plant) just 15-20 milligrams per cup.

Can I call you?

We don't have a direct line as we are a small team frequently moving around from our production office to our warehouse, however we do our very best to respond you by email within 24 hours. Please feel free to contact us at info@riccitea.com.

Do you offer refunds if I change my mind?

We do not offer refunds in this situation, so please choose your products carefully. To help you buy consciously, we have highlighted the therapeutic benefits of every product we stock as well as the flavour profiles of our teas. Please refer to our refunds and exchange policy.

Do you sell your blends in teabags?

We do not sell tea in teabags, as we try to minimize the environmental impact of our teas. Tea bags can be convenient, but loose tea also helps reduce packaging waste. Loose leaf tea is in its fuller form, allowing you to consume more flavorful tea and gain more nutrients.

Does it matter how long I steep my tea?

For sure! Certain types of tea, especially green tea and white tea can be very delicate and over steeping them can often result in a bitter flavor. Each of our teas comes with specific instructions for brewing the perfect cup of tea, including the optimal steeping time and water temperature.

Each tea has its own ideal steep time, but as a general rule you should steep your teas as follows:

- Black Tea- 4-5 minutes @ 100ºC/212ºF
- Flavored Black Tea - 4-5 minutes @ 100ºC/212ºF
- Green Tea- 2-3 minutes @ 85ºC/185ºF
